Drafting Manager

Work Location – Manassas, VA

Reports to – Field Manager

Pay range - $1,200 weekly

Job Summary

Drafting Manager will report to the Field Manager for the VA region and will be responsible for the management of the drafting department.

Duties will include new drafter setup, training, quality reviews of completed work orders, tracking, problem resolution, and monitoring of production.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience working with Verizon in the drafting field including help desk procedures, remedy tickets, PT resolution.

  • Supervisory experience including project management.

  • Must be proficient in IDDS/ICGS, RAMS, BDMS.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Project, and Power Point.

  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision and provide training to end users.

Position Summary:

Provides pre-sales technical support and direction to sales professional and support staff. Gathers appropriate technical information and business requirements to create customer solutions.  Works collectively to complete proposals and develop standardized and custom service pricing.  Promotes Enventis telecommunications products, co-sells with sales team and assists with customer sales calls.  Responsible for tracking sales forecasts and stays current on market changes, emerging products and services, competitor offerings, etc.

Primary Responsibilities:

1.      Provide pre-sales technical support and direction to sales professional and support staff as appropriate to promote sales, provide excellent customer solutions, and advance company creditability and professionalism. 

2.      Build strong customer relationships and partner alliance relationships that advance the revenue production for Business Solutions.

3.      Initiate and complete sales through knowledge of product and services.

Work Relationships:

Work Conditions/Equipment:

Minimum Qualifications:

·         4-year degree in Computer Science/Math/Engineering or equivalent in experience.

FTTP OSP Design Engineer

FTTP OSP DESIGN ENGINEER – position description Texas

The FTTP OSP Engineer creates project designs, estimates costs, identifies appropriate materials and equipment, creates drawings, and estimates project timelines, for the placement of copper, COAX and fiber optic cables, poles, conduit, transmission equipment and associated electronics.  The FTTP OSP Engineer creates designs based on current and past network architectures including, REA, FRD, CSA, FITL, FTTN, FTTP, COP, VRAD, F2, Light Speed and others. The FTTP OSP project designs must conform to NEC, TIA, Telecordia, Company, current Telecom, and local, national regulations, specifications and guidelines.  The OSP Engineer should be proficient in conduit, manhole, hand hole, underground, submarine, buried and aerial construction methods.

The FTTP OSP Engineer works with local, state, federal and private jurisdictions to obtain permission and approval to encroach upon public and private lands to place the proposed OSP facilities.  The FTTP OSP Engineer uses a variety of methods and means to create Engineering Work Order packages. Drawings in addition to being created “by hand” are normally created electronically using Micro Station, Visio, AutoCAD and other proprietary and commercially available software.  The FTTP OSP Engineer will use a wide variety of Company proprietary project scheduling, material, records and project management systems including IDDS, ICGS, RAMS, AAIS, ACES, ARES, ELP, FEI, LFACS, OPTI, JAMS, (SBC) Telcolli, LEIS, LMOS, and  JMOS for example.  The FTTP OSP Engineer should be proficient with Microsoft Office software including, WORD, EXCEL, Power Point, and Outlook.

The FTTP OSP Engineer should possess basic engineering tools such as a lay up stick, pole prod, measuring wheel, 100 foot tape measure, drawing templates, and may be required to have an automobile or truck, lap top computer, GPS unit, cell phone and facsimile.  The FTTP OSP Engineer will be required to have a valid driver’s license and state minimum liability insurance.  The FTTP OSP Engineer will be required to submit to a background check and drug screen.  

The FTTP OSP Engineer position may also be referred to as Design Engineer, Layout Engineer, Route Engineer, Loop Engineer, Distribution and/or Feeder Engineer, FTTP Engineer, FTTN Engineer, F2 Provisioning, and other assignment specific descriptions.

Qualifications

Requires a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years fielding/engineering  experience in the telecommunications industry.
High school diploma or GED; some college preferred.
Valid local drivers license with good DMV record.
Requires ability to function independent of a supervisor.
Basic word-processing software and record keeping skills.
College level courses in AutoCAD drafting/CATV design desired.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under general supervision, performs field engineering of proposed projects in order to provide optimum routing alternatives ensuring the most cost-effective designs are developed for construction projects
Provides suggested cable routings, drop/house/unit count and proposed/actual pedestal locations and other topographical data intended to afford design personnel the optimum opportunity to design the most effective plant placement.
Provides field investigation of construction projects both aerial and underground construction.
Provides Auto Cad or hand drawn drawings depicting pickup locations and proposed routings.
Provides Post-wire drawings of commercial/MDU construction.
Provides estimated costs to provide services to projects.
Meet with property managers and owners to assist in securing right-of-way agreements and easements for the placement of telecommunications facilities required to complete construction.
Attends on sight meetings with property managers/owners to explain construction procedures and cable routing.
Perform field verifications of existing plant in order to provide accurate pick up points for new development and commercial plant extensions
Attend departmental meetings to understand and address the goals of the organization.
Gather street addresses and unit count information for database additions/corrections as required.
Coordinates with in-house project coordinators, maintenance technicians and permit engineers as required to engineer plant extensions correctly and reflect current plant powering changes.
Performs accurate drafting of field engineering with all footages verified and necessary construction notes illustrated.
Coordinates with commercial designer to assure field engineering is reflected accurately and designed accordingly. Reviews project cost data for after-the-fact projects to assure accuracy.
Researches system plant maps to determine system extension effects on surrounding cable plant and node placement sizing.
Performs small system preliminary extension design for high priority projects when necessary.
Coordinates with company contractors as needed to verify existing conduits and plant.
